Indiana Youth Group (IYG) creates safe spaces, provides wellness programming, and educates LGBTQ youth and the community.
The Executive Director (ED) of Indiana Youth Group (IYG) reports directly to the Board of Directors and will have overall strategic and operational responsibility for IYG’s staff, programs, expansion, and execution of its mission. The ED will develop deep knowledge of field, core programs, operations, and business plans.Leadership and Management• Ensure ongoing local programmatic excellence, rigorous program evaluation, andconsistent quality of finance and administration, fundraising, communications, and systems;recommend timelines and resources needed to achieve strategic goals.• Actively engage and energize IYG volunteers, board members, event committees, alumni,partnering organizations, and funders.• Partners with Board Chair and Governance Committee to develop, maintain, and support astrong Board of Directors; serve as ex-officio of each committee; seek and build boardinvolvement with strategic direction for expansion efforts.• Lead, coach, develop and retain IYG’s high-performance management team.• Ensure effective systems to track scaling progress, and regularly evaluate programcomponents, so as to measure successes that can be effectively communicated to theboard, funders, and other constituents.Fundraising and Communications• Expand local revenue generating and fundraising activities to support existing programoperations and potential expansion efforts.• Deepen and refine all aspects of communications – from web presence to external relationswith the goal of creating a stronger brand.• Use external presence and relationship to garner new opportunities.Planning and New Business• Lead the development and completion of strategic business planning process.• Begin to build partnerships with potential new funders, establishing relationships with keycommunity and political leaders.• Be an external local, regional, and national presence that effectively publishes andcommunicates successful program results and other significant organization achievements.Fiscal Management• Oversees bookkeeping and all financial obligations, including accounting policies andprocedures, budgeting, and financial reports to the Board of Directors
• Bachelor’s degree, with at least 10 years of nonprofit senior management experience.Master’s degree in Business Administration (MBA), Nonprofit Leadership (MPA, MPH, MHA)or similar, preferred. A combination of advanced education and experience in lieu ofspecified requirements is acceptable.• Track record of effectively leading and regionally and/or nationally scaling a performanceand outcomes based organization and staff; ability to point to specific examples of havingdeveloped and operationalized strategies that have taken an organization to the next stageof growth.• Unwavering commitment to quality programs and data-driven program evaluation.• Excellence in organizational management with the ability to coach staff, manage, anddevelop high-performing teams, set and achieve strategic objectives, and manage a budget.• Past success working with a Board of Directors with the ability to cultivate existing boardmember relationships.• Strong marketing, public relations, and fundraising experience with the ability to engage awide range of stakeholders and cultures.• Strong written and verbal communication skills; a persuasive and passionate communicator with excellent interpersonal and multidisciplinary project skills./• Action-oriented, entrepreneurial, adaptable, and innovative approach to business planning.• Ability to work effectively in collaboration with diverse groups of people.• Passion, idealism, integrity, positive attitude, mission-driven, and self-directed.
