Founded in 1983, the Democratic Governors Association (DGA) is an independent voluntary political organization organized to support Democratic governors and candidates across the nation. As the only organization dedicated to electing Democratic governors and candidates, the DGA participates at all levels of campaigns, from providing resources to fund operations to helping articulate and deliver their messages. The DGA also provides expert advice in policy areas to Democratic governors and candidates.
Executive Administrator The Democratic Governors Association (DGA), the campaign committee responsible for electing and supporting Democratic Governors, is seeking an Executive Administrator. This individual primarily provides logistical and administrative support to the DGA’s Executive Director while also supporting the efforts of DGA’s Deputy Executive Director and other senior staff. The Executive Administrator is also responsible for coordinating projects and information across the entire organization. Primary Responsibilities · Strategically and discretely manage all aspects of the schedule and travel logistics of the Executive Director;· Regularly provide status updates to the Executive Director regarding ongoing requests, internal projects, and other relevant matters;· At the request of the Executive Director, coordinate meetings with staff, governors, candidates, donors, and/or principals of allied organizations across the country while autonomously handling the logistical responsibilities to make sure these meetings are successful;· Working closely with DGA’s senior staff, DGA’s events staff, and governors’ staff to ensure DGA events and fundraisers are successful;· At the request of the Executive Director, manage special projects and coordinate logistics and information among internal staff to make sure projects are completed on time and at/under budget;· Coordinate internal meetings and proactively communicate with participants to make sure materials are prepared to ensure these meetings are efficient and successful;· Exercise self-judgement to serve as a resource to all DGA staff, including mid-level staff, junior-level staff, and interns;· Exercise self-judgement to respond quickly and accurately to requests from senior level staff, as well as key staff of governors, candidates, donors, and/or principals of allied organizations;· Exercise self-judgement to constantly prioritize and re-prioritize tasks to make sure all goals are achieved on time;· Help with other special projects, assignments, and tasks as assigned by the Executive Director, and/or other senior DGA Staff.
Minimum Qualifications · At least two election cycles of work experience supporting the scheduling and meeting logistics of key principal(s); · Extremely strong attention to detail that can be confirmed by all external professional references;· Proven record of being highly organized while also providing support to organize others; · Proven ability to provide discreet and confidential support to executives, elected officials, and/or key principals;· Proven proficiency using modern technology and software to efficiently solve operational problems;· Superb verbal and written intra-office communication skills;· Proven ability to work efficiently and autonomously while meeting tight deadlines;· Must be comfortable with long, irregular hours during peak seasons;· Must be able to travel as part of work assignments, including nights and weekends;· Strong, proven record of punctuality and attendance;· Proven, consistent professionalism working with strategic partners, donors, candidates, and governors;· Proven knowledge of the Democratic Governors, the Democratic Party, and their historical donor and electoral bases;· Proven knowledge and/or experience how Democratic campaigns work;· Proven commitment to Democratic principles;· Proven interest in current events and national/state/local campaigns, and politics;
The position is considered a mid-level position that collaborates closely with DGA’s senior staff. The position is based in downtown Washington, DC and comes with employer-paid health care benefits.
