Position Description: 

Vibrant national LGBTQ+ cancer network is looking for an experienced finance professional to assume the halftime role of Accounting Manager. We are seeking a candidate to begin work immediately.The Accounting Manager will have primary responsibility for the financial management of the organization, including day to day tasks such as:

  • analyzing budget to actual on a monthly basis;
  • reconciling bank accounts and key balance sheet accounts against the subsidiary ledger; 
  • posting expenses to appropriate accounts and cost centers;
  • reconciling accounts, processing invoices and outgoing payments;
  • receiving and recording income;
  • allocating expenses and administering payroll;
  • producing monthly financial reports and reviewing report details with staff and Board Treasurer.

The Accounting Manager will work closely with the Executive Director and Projects Director to monitor project expenses and grant budgets. The incumbent will work with an external accounting firm to ensure accurate and timely completion of annual financial audit and all required tax filings. This is a halftime position based in RI but open to remote work for the right candidate. We offer a generous benefits package.Requirements:

  • Degree in finance, accounting or related field or an equivalent combination of training and experience
  • Demonstrated success in creating accurate and timely financial reports;
  • Demonstrated experience invoicing for federal and state grants and contracts;
  • Demonstrated strong interpersonal, written, and computer skills - including Quickbooks Accounting software and Microsoft Excel;
  • Demonstrated success working independently, managing details, and adhering to established guidelines and timeframes;
  • Strong communication skills, and a reliable team member.

Preferred expertise:

  • Experience with the LGBTQ leadership community;
  • Experience engaging and working with diverse community groups;
  • Minimum two years non-profit accounting and auditing experience.
